South

Open
to anyone, but if entries for an event are high, some will be rejected,
depending on personal bests |
| National |
AAA
Championships |
A
certain standard for an event must usually have been attained in the
recent past for a successful entry. If entries are low, this may be
relaxed |
| Schools
Championships |
A
Sussex squad of about 40 is selected after the County Schools Champs.
Again, a standard is expected |
| BUSA
Championships |
The
student championships - universities enter teams. There are no standards
expected, and this is the most relaxed of the major champs |
There are also representative matches at various times of the year for
those lucky enough to be selected.
The schools inter-county match takes place the Saturday following the
Schools County Championships, and usually involves the top two from each
event in the Under 17 (Inter) and Under 15 (Junior) age groups.
The AAA Southern inter-county matches are usually in August. There is
one for the Under 13s, a combined one for the Under 15s and Under 17s,
and a separate Senior match. There is also a high standard national Senior
event in May, and inter-regional matches for the Under 20s and Seniors,
where a South of England team performs.
